A chocolate percentage needs a clear reference point. On a chocolate with nuts, the cocoa-solids percentage of the chocolate and the amount of chocolate in the whole product describe different things. Here is how to read the numbers in the SENZ collection.
A concrete example: the hazelnut 72% dark chocolate bar
For the dark expression of our Hazelnut Chocolate Bar, 72% is the cocoa-solids content within the dark chocolate component. Separately, dark chocolate makes up at least 52% of the whole product, following the current packaging statement.
72%: the cocoa solids in the chocolate component.
At least 52%: the amount of dark chocolate in the finished hazelnut product.
Neither figure gives the hazelnut percentage. The whole-product chocolate amount cannot be read as the cocoa-solids percentage, and the 72% figure does not describe the whole bar.

Use the full label alongside the percentage
A 72% or 90% label helps identify the chocolate style. For sugar content, ingredients, allergens and storage, read the label for the exact product and format you are buying. Products with the same percentage can have different ingredients or formats.

What the 2024 awards identify
The Academy of Chocolate’s official 2024 list records SENZ Dark Chocolate 90% with a silver award and SENZ Dark Chocolate 72% with a bronze award, under Lanhe (Suzhou), in the plain dark chocolate bar category.
Those records identify the named chocolates and award year. A matching percentage on a current pack does not, by itself, establish that the pack is the awarded product. The awards do not cover the hazelnut bar or every format in the table.
